SPORTS ENTHUSIAST
In spite of a regular busy schedule, Dr. Ofosu-Ampofo recognises the key benefit of keeping a hobby to rejuvenate the body and the mind. Hon. Ampofo is a sports enthusiast, particularly football. He is a keen supporter of the Black Stars. On the local front, he admires Accra Great Olympics. His affection for Oly Dade was ignited by his close association with Chairman Ade Coker, who is well known for his affinity with the Accra Club.
VERSATILE
Perhaps an unknown side of Hon. Ampofo to the public is his versatility. He possesses a deep passion for farming and livestock rearing.
When he was Eastern Regional Minister, he engaged in an extensive backyard cultivation of plantain at the Residency. This venture proved more successful than envisaged and benefitted staff of the regional administration and visitors as well, and a good volume went to charity.
As a native of a rural and agricultural environment, it has influenced his upbringing. Currently, he has an orchard, poultry farm and piggery at different locations in Bunso and Nsutam in the Eastern Region. It is important to indicate that at a point in time, his poultry was producing over... crates of eggs and... birds for the market. With the inception of Nkoko nketenkete, he plans to expand and increase output by 100% to reduce poultry imports.
He also cultivates impressive acreages of maize in commercial quantities at Maame Krobo in the Afram Plains.
MEDIA PERSON
His commitment to a society anchored in good governance, education, and social justice, as well as building national unity and cohesion, is amplified by his belief in information dissemination. To achieve this pursuit, he has established two prominent Fm radio stations in the country. Fm Radio One 100.7 located at the Bunso junction and Ahotor 92.3 Fm at Lashibi are testaments to this commitment. Ahotor Fm recently celebrated 10 years of active broadcasting excellence to the Community and Ghana, with a firm promise to expand the operations to provide TV services.
Both media stations are operating under the auspices of the Universal Multimedia brand, where Hon. Doc. Ofosu-Ampofo is the CEO.
LEADERSHIP & GOVERNANCE INSTITUTE
Hon. Ofosu-Ampofo identifies with the adage that the best way to offer fish is to teach the individual how to fish.
With over three decades of fruitful, uninterrupted, rich accumulation of knowledge and expertise in politics and public administration, (especially in the fields of decentralised governance, leadership, and best practices,) he feels obliged to bequeath these store of knowledge to the society. Ampofo and Adjepong Leadership and Governance Institute (AALGI) was founded in 2011 to mentor, support and offer consultancy services to the youth and society to be abreast with current and changing modules.
